Water Well Drill Pipe-Safety Precautions for Water Well Drilling Rig Operation

Date: April 2026

Location: China

1. Start the drilling rig only after the power unit is running normally. Engage the clutch smoothly, lightly, and steadily. Avoid sudden impact.

2. Before water well drill pipe shifting the gearbox or transfer case, always disengage the clutch first. Never shift while the rig is running. Change gears only after gear speed decreases to prevent gear damage.

3. Ensure all gears are fully engaged during shifting to avoid slipping and gear damage.

4. During operation, regularly check rotating parts such as bearings and gearboxes. Their temperature must not exceed 60°C. Stop the machine immediately if overheating occurs.

5. If the clutch overheats or slips, stop the rig for inspection and adjust the clutch friction plate clearance properly. Excessive tightness may prevent engagement, while excessive looseness may cause partial engagement, reduced torque, and rapid wear.

6. Before drilling, lift the drilling tools off the bottom of the hole first, then engage the clutch. Apply drilling pressure only after the rig is running normally.

7. When using the hoist of water well drill pipe, do not press the left and right handles at the same time, or combine handle operation with the foot brake simultaneously. Do not overload the winch.

8. For a new rig or a rig that has been idle for a long time, run the rig in second gear for at least 20 minutes before drilling. Normal drilling may begin only after gears and bearings are fully lubricated.

9. Before starting, make sure the rig locking device is secured to prevent the machine from moving backward due to vibration.

10. The tachometer must not rotate in reverse. If reverse rotation is required, remove the tachometer flexible shaft first to avoid damage.

11. Do not operate the rig travel control lever during drilling or lifting.

12. If abnormal noise occurs during water well drill pipe rig operation, stop the rig immediately, identify the cause, and eliminate the fault.

13. When the automatic band brake is engaged, the operator must not leave the machine. If necessary, lock the cam with the pawl.

14. Keep oil away from the band brake lining to prevent slipping.

15. Do not operate all hydraulic control levers at the same time. After the gear oil pump starts, monitor the oil pressure gauge and bottom-hole pressure indicator. Adjust bottom-hole pressure gradually during drilling. When using the hydraulic system for rapid spindle lifting, do so only under the original load condition to avoid component damage.

16. To ensure safe operation, all hydraulic system functions and working pressures must remain within the specified range.

17. After using the winch water-cooling system, drain all remaining water. Remove the rubber water seal and apply lubricating oil to prevent rust or freezing damage.

18. Before moving the rig backward, release the water well drill rig locking device first.

19. If the water well drill rig will remain unused for a long period, coat all exposed parts with lubricating grease to prevent rust.
